Fireman’s Festival set Saturday in West Leechburg

The West Leechburg Fireman’s Festival will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the firemen’s recreation hall and grounds, 1116 Gosser Ave.

There will be crafters, vendors, food, fire truck rides, children’s activities, a car cruise and raffles. A foam party will begin at 7 p.m. Vehicle fee for the car cruise $8 and their first 60 vehicles will receive and dash plaque.

Volunteers wanted for Apollo park cleanup

Apollo Area Lions Club will sponsor a workday from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday in Owens Grove in Apollo.

Volunteers are needed to trim hedges, clear debris and pick up twigs. Bring hedge trimmers, rakes and trash bags.

Annual concert fundraiser planned in Lower Burrell

The sixth annual Officer Brian Shaw Concert will be from 2 p.m. to midnight Saturday at Mogie’s Irish Pub, Leechburg Road, Lower Burrell.

Performers will include John Melnick, Johnson’s Crossing, Miss Freddye’s Blues Band, the Rust Project, TKO, Curtis and the Shakerz, Noble Hops and Norman Nardini. Admission is $10 and there will be a silent auction and 50-50 raffle.

Proceeds will benefit the Officer Brian Shaw Foundation.

Saturday: Apollo Area Historical Society will dedicate the Mae Shirey Memorial Garden at Drake Log Cabin, 215 Williams Alley. Saturday: Message of Hope will sponsor a Pack the Bus school supply drive from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the parking lot at Owens Field. There will be food trucks and vendors. Aug. 14: Our Lady, Queen of Peace and St. James parishes will sponsor a bus trip to Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh. The bus will leave at 9 a.m. from the St. James Church parking lot in Apollo. Brackenridge

Harrison

Monday through Friday: The Natrona Playground Summer Camp for children serves a free lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. weekdays at the playground, 10 River Ave. Free classes from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. are: Tuesday, terrarium- a jungle in a jar; Wednesday, coloring with Ms. Maritza; and Thursday, tie-dye T-shirts.

Friday: Natrona Heights Veterans of Foreign Wars will have bingo at 7 p.m. at the post, 894 Veterans Lane. Doors open at 6 p.m., and there will be specials, a 50-50 raffle and final game jackpot.
